Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited information Akron Residents Directory receives, how it is handled, and the choices available to visitors. The service is a private reference to records and historical collections in Akron, Ohio. It has no user account system and does not maintain a database of people who use it.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If a visitor sends a message, we receive the information in that message and use it only to respond.

Routine Technical Data

Hosting systems may create standard logs such as an IP address, browser type, page request, and timestamp. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.

How Information Is Used

Information is used to operate the service, troubleshoot it, measure traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.

External Services

Links may lead to county or state record portals, library collections, archives, or sponsored search tools. The privacy policy of the receiving service controls data submitted there. That includes information entered in a sponsored result tool.

Service Providers and Disclosure

Companies that host or support the service can process the routine logs described above. Analytics and advertising providers may receive that automatic data. Information is otherwise disclosed only when valid legal process requires it.

Security Practices

The service uses an encrypted connection, and routine logs are retained only for as long as the stated purposes require. No visitor account, password, or personal profile is created here.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held by a service. Ohio research did not identify a broad consumer-data-broker deletion statute. Ohio Attorney General guidance instead points consumers toward privacy settings and individual companies' opt-out procedures. Because this service keeps very little, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and routine logs. Use the Contact page. Public records held by Ohio, Summit County, or Akron custodians are outside our control and must be addressed with the responsible office under its governing rule.

Policy Changes

Revisions to this policy will appear here. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
